Varsity Boys Basketball Pushes Past Patriots

On 11/19/24, the varsity boys basketball hosted Master's Academy of Vero for their first home game of the regular season in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center. The Pirates took the 19-15 lead in the 1st quarter but saw the Patriots rally back to narrow the gap 37-34 going into the half. The Pirates pushed on full steam ahead in the second half, shutting down their opponents and never looking back. The Pirates claimed the ultimate victory 72-56 to secure the win.

Gary Anderson led the Pirates on the floor with 19 total points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals, and 4 blocks. Following closely was Jayzere Cannon with 14 points, which included two 3-pointers, as well as 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Cody Simmonds led the Pirates in free throws with 3 and racked up 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 12 total points toward the victory, including a thrilling half-court buzzer-beater at the end of the first quarter. Carson Yates netted 11 points for the Pirates as well as 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals, and Wyatt Burdick, who led the team in assists with 7, recorded 9 points and 6 rebounds. Cole Register put up 5 points for the team, one of which was a 3-pointer, and Max Pohl added 2 points to the successful night. Daniel Clemente worked hard on the floor, tallying 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 blocks, and Rushil Sura contributed 1 rebound and 2 assists.
