Varsity Girls Lacrosse Secures Place in District Finals

The varsity girls lacrosse hosted Jensen Beach High School on 4/12/24 in Pirate Stadium for the Class 1A District 13 Semifinals. With a relentless scoring attack and shut-down defense, the Pirates came away with a 16-7 victory over the Falcons to launch them into the first District Final game in nearly 20 years.

Stepping up for the injured leading scorer and premier draw control specialist CJ Fykes, younger sister Margaret Fykes recorded 4 goals, 2 assists, and 4 draw controls. Caitlin Moscrip dominated the draw circle with 10 accurate placements to her teammates and 5 draw controls herself, along with 3 goals and an assist. Six of those critical draw controls plus an assist are credited to Bebe Busch-Dunford. and teammate Leah Chin provided 1 draw control as well. Mary Kathryn Watson netted 3 goals for the Pirates, and Aerin Russell contributed 2. Also adding 1 goal each were Carrington Brown, Kelly Lynch, Nicollette Kennedy, and Lily O'Brien.

Madeline Richards led the defensive charge for the Pirates alongside the low defense of teammates Avery Orzechowski, Kennedy, and Chin, who withstanding a very physical Falcon attack, allowed only 3 goals in the second half and prevented Jensen Beach's comeback bid. Holding the best single-season save record over the past 20 years, Pirate goalie Maddie Moscrip tallied 13 saves.
