Another Close Game for Varsity Volleyball

On 9/16/24, the varsity volleyball team took on Merritt Island Christian School at home in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center. While the Cougars took an early 2-set lead, 23-25 and 19-25, the persistent Pirates rallied back, answering their opponents with a 2-set win of their own: 25-23, 25-20. The Pirates again faced a 5th set determiner and unfortunately could not gain enough momentum, falling 8-15 to the Cougars.

Makena Rodriguez led the Pirates in kills with 18 and also added 19 digs, 1 assist, 1 ace, and 1 block. Natalee Rogers helped keep the Pirates in the game with 26 digs, 1 kill, 2 assists, and 2 aces. Margaret Fykes led the team in assists with 36, in addition to her recorded 4 aces and 17 digs. Grace Clemente amassed 15 kills and 5 digs, and Sommer Soderman brought forth 1 aces and 13 digs.

Additional stats for the Pirate team: Maddie Moscrip - 5 aces, 7 digs; Alice Crean - 5 kills, 2 digs, 1 block; Khlieo Perez -3 kills, 1 ace, 1 dig; Grace Griffeth - 1 kill, 1 dig, 1 block.
 
Next game is at home on 9/18/24 versus John Carroll Catholic High School, starting at 6:00 PM in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center.
