Varsity Football Subdues Vipers

The varsity football team hosted the Space Coast Jr./Sr. High School Vipers in a very competitive game on 8/29/24 on the Michael J. Mersky Field. Jaden Jackson started off the scoring for the Pirate team with a 2-yard rush in the 1st quarter. Quarterback Nate Sparkman hit Nicky Colontrelle with a touchdown pass in the back of the endzone to give the Pirates a 12-0 lead going into the half. The Vipers responded with 2 straight scores and took the lead with under 4 minutes left. Sparkman connected with Connor O'Brien with 2 minutes left on a post route that would eventually be the game-winning score.

The Pirates' defense and special teams unit played a major part in the eventual Pirate victory. Defensive end Gary Anderson collected 4 sacks and finished the game with 8 total tackles and a forced fumble. The Pirates went on to defeat the Vipers 18-13 to improve to 2-0 in the regular season.

Next game is at home on 9/5/24 versus Pine Crest School, starting at 6:30 PM on the Michael J. Mersky Field.
