Varsity Volleyball Clinches 5 Set Thriller Against Brahmans
The varsity volleyball team hosted Okeechobee High School on 9/27/24 in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center. The Pirates dominated the 1st set 25-23 over the Brahmans before falling in the 2nd set 14-25. The back-and-forth action continued in the 3rd and 4th set with the Pirates winning 25-21 and narrowly falling 22-25. The thrilling final set saw the Pirates walk away as the victors with a 16-14 set score.
Margaret Fykes provided 3 kills, 30 assists, 3 aces, 20 digs, and 1 block, and teammate Makena Rodriguez collected 10 kills, 4 aces, 19 digs, and 2 blocks in the exciting matchup for the Pirates. Grace Clemente tallied 13 kills and 14 digs, and Sommer Soderman led the team in digs with 22 and also had 1 assist and 1 ace. Grace Fykes contributed 1 assist, 4 aces, and 13 digs, and Alice Crean recorded 9 kills, 7 digs, and 1 block for the Pirates. Natalee Rogers added 2 assists and 15 digs. Also contributing toward the Pirate victory were Maddie Moscrip with 3 aces and 6 digs; Grace Griffeth with 4 kills, 2 digs, and 2 blocks; Khlieo Perez with 1 dig.
