Varsity Cross Country Opens Season at Indian River County Invite
The varsity cross country teams competed in their first meet of the regular season at the Indian River County Invite that was held held on 8/31/24 at the Indian River County Fairgrounds in Vero Beach. The girls team finished 8th out of 17 teams.
For the girls team, returning athlete Jacquelyn Perrin led the way with her 23:23 time in the 5K. Other scoring members of the team include Sophie Cooper, Stephanie Storts, Cadence Callaghan, and Isabella Peter.
For the boys team, Jack Curley set the pace with a 18:52, almost matching his personal best from the end of last season. Matthew Barrett set a new personal best in the race by 2:30.
Many of the first-time racers set their personal best marks in this competition, including Storts, Cooper, Callaghan, Emma Ramsay, and Chris Campbell.
