Varsity Boys Basketball Subdues Cougars
On 12/12/24, the varsity boys basketball team headed to Merritt Island to face off against Merritt Island Christian School. Despite being down 23-31 at the half, the determined Pirate team rallied on the court in the 3rd quarter to pass up the Cougars 42-39. The Pirates successfully held off the Cougars in the 4th quarter to clinch the 62-55 victory.
Cody Simmonds netted 18 points for the Pirates along with 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 8 steals. Collecting 14 points apiece, Gary Anderson led the Pirates in rebounds (7) and blocks (8) and also added 4 assists and 5 steals, and Jayzere Cannon recorded 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Cole Register nabbed 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist. Wyatt Burdick sank 6 points alongside 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 2 blocks, and Kaleb Jones put up 2 points and 2 assists for the Pirates. Daniel Clemente contributed 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block in the victory, and Rushil Sura provided 2 assists. Carson Yates added 1 rebound and 1 block.
