Varsity Cross Country Teams Clinch Spots for Regionals
The varsity boys and girls cross country teams started their postseason competition with the Class 1A District 7 Tournament at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton. Eight of the Pirates' thirteen runners notched new personal best times in the meet. The boys team, having ended in a tied overall score with The Benjamin School, saw runner Aiden Bryant break the tie by 1.5 seconds to propel the Pirates to 3rd place overall out of 12 teams. The girls team finished the day 4th overall out of 11 teams. Both teams will advance to the Class 1A Region 4 Tournament.
Leading the boys team was Jack Curley with his 15th place finish of 17:54.0. Chris Campbell placed 31st at 19:46.8, Jamin Dunham finished 36th with 19:57.0, Spencer Taft followed at 37th with 19:57.1, and Bobby Campbell placed 38th at 20:10.2. Bryant, who served as the 6th runner for the team overall tiebreak, placed 50th with 20:55.3. Also running for the Pirates were Chris Perrin at 54th with 21:23.5 and Cam Perrin at 71st with 22.25.4.
Leading the girls team was Jacquelyn Perrin with her 11th place finish of 22:06.8. Stephanie Storts placed 15th for the Pirates with 22:50.6, and Sophie Cooper finished 20th at 23:56.4. Cadence Callaghan finished in 30th place with 25:05.7, and Isabella Peter rounded out the scoring for the girls team with her 26:46.1 finish in 43rd place.
Next meet is the Class 1A Region 4 Tournament on 11/8/24 at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton, starting at 8:30 AM.
