Varsity Boys Lacrosse Pushes Past Montverde in Regional Quarterfinals
The varsity boys lacrosse team traveled to Montverde on 4/24/24 to compete in the Class 1A Region 2 Quarterfinals against the Montverde Academy Eagles. The Pirates saw themselves tied with the Eagles 1-1 at the halftime of the low-scoring battle. The third quarter saw the Pirates dash away with a 3-2 lead, and the Pirates put away the Eagles 4-2 in the final quarter to secure their bid to the Regional Semifinals.
Connor O'Brien, with 1 goal and 2 assists, and Will Russell, with 1 goal and 1 assist, led the charge on the field for the Pirate team. Reed Sternberg and Chris Campbell each sank 1 goal toward the victory, and Harrison Hardin provided 1 assist. Keegan Nyman and Beckley Waldrop recorded 4 ground balls each, and Waldrop led the team in takeaways with 3. Goalkeeper Edwin Provancher made sure the Pirates' goal was well covered, collecting 5 saves on 7 shots on goal.
