Varsity Girls Weightlifting Competes in 1st Meet Since Program's Revival
The varsity girls weightlifting team traveled to Vero Beach High School on 10/30/24 for their first meet of the season. Competing in their inaugural meet since the program's revival this year, the Pirate team was eager to show off their skills on the floor against Vero Beach High School and Port St. Lucie High School.
Eighth grader Katie Padgett collected 4th place in her weight class in the Olympic category with 20/25/45, going 6for6. She also went 6for6 in the Traditional category, to receive 4th place for her lifts of 25/45/70.
In her division, sophomore Jaida Jackson went 6for6 in both Olympic (35/35/70) and Traditional (35/75/110) and placed 4th in both categories as well.
Sophomore Genevieve Medalie placed 5th in her weight class in Olympic with 30/35/65 and 6th in Traditional with 35/55/90.
Rounding out the successful day for the Pirates, sophomore Issie Evans went 6for6 in the Traditional category in her division and finished 5th with 50/55/105.
Next meet is at home on 11/13/24 versus Vero Beach High School, starting at 4:00 PM in the Wachter Activities Center.
