Varsity Boys Basketball Secures District Semifinal Bid
On 2/3/25, the varsity boys basketball team hosted Master's Academy of Vero in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center for the Class 1A District 8 Quarterfinals. The Pirates came out hot against the Patriots, handily defeating them 77-48.
Carson Yates and Cody Simmonds led the Pirates on the scoreboard with 17 points apiece. In addition, Simmonds grabbed 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal, and Yates collected 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. Gary Anderson tied with Simmonds for most rebounds at 11, and he led the team in blocks with 7. Anderson also recorded 4 points, 1 assists, and 3 steals. Wyatt Burdick netted 15 points for the Pirates in addition to his 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block, and Cole Register followed closely with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block. Kaleb Jones led the team in assists with 7 and added 5 points, 1 rebound, and 3 steals. Daniel Clemente tallied 3 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal, and Seorim McLendon accrued 2 p points, 1 rebound, and 3 blocks.
