It is with great pleasure to announce the Saint Edward’s School Hall of Fame induction of Robert Bond as a Coach and Administrator
Bob began teaching and soon advancing to administration beginning in 1964 at Wyoming Seminary Day School, where he also began his coaching career. It was Saint Edward’s School’s good fortune that in 1976 Bob was hired as the Lower School Head where he filled that role for 28 years until 2004. While serving as Head of the Lower School, he continued his coaching, serving as Head Coach of the varsity boys’ basketball team from 1976-1979, after which he led the boys’Middle School basketball team from 1979-2017. During this amazing 38 year run as Head Coach, his Middle School Teams earned numerous Treasure Coast Athletic Conference Championships. And while Bob may have passed along the reins of Head Coach, his expertise and vast knowledge of the game was sought by the Varsity Team where he currently serves as an Assistant Coach.
Remarkably, during his time as Lower School Head, Bob also organized, ran and, often, officiated the Lower School intramural program for 5th and 6th grade boys and girls in soccer, basketball, and softball. He has driven cheerleaders to football games, and has assisted many times with game management volunteering to keep the official basketball scorebook or running the scoreboard and game clock.
Currently Bob is retired with his wife of 54 years, Sue, who also retired from Saint Edward’s after a marvelous teaching career in Lower School math. They have 2 graduates of Saint Edward’s School; Jeff (class of ’87) and Greg (class of ’90). Bob and Sue are also the proud grand-parents of twins Georgia and Griffin age 13, and Jane age 9.
Congratulations Bob and welcome to the Saint Edward’s School Hall of Fame as a 2019 inductee.
