Varsity Boys Basketball Stops Greyhounds
On 12/3/24, the varsity boys basketball team hit the road for Fort Pierce to take on Lincoln Park Academy. The Pirates never waivered in the first half, trailing only 23-27 at halftime. The determined Pirate team overcame the deficit in the 4th quarter to halt the Greyhounds' advance and secure the victory 54-49.
Cody Simmonds led the scoreboard for the Pirates with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals, and 6 assists. Gary Anderson, who led the team in blocks with 6, netted 15 points and contributed 10 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 assists. Wyatt Burdick put up 7 points for the Pirate team along with 3 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 assist; and teammate Jayzere Cannon sank 5 points and recorded 1 steal. Chipping in 3 points each were Daniel Clemente, who also added 5 rebounds and 1 block, and Cole Register, who accumulated 3 steals, 1 rebound, and 1 assist. Kaleb Jones recorded 6 rebounds and 2 steals, and Carson Yates contributed 6 rebounds and 1 steal to help keep the ball moving for the Pirates. Rushil Sura provided 2 assists and 1 steal for the team.
