Varsity Boys Basketball Takes Part in D5 Alive Tournament
The varsity boys basketball team recently took part in the D5 Alive Basketball Tournament, hosted at Saint Edward's School in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center. In the 2-day event, the Pirates first took on Cardinal Newman High School on 1/24/25. The Pirates fought hard on the court but ultimately fell to the Crusaders 40-77. Game day highlights for the Pirates include: Cody Simmonds - 16 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal; Wyatt Burdick - 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block; Gary Anderson - 5 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 8 blocks; Kaleb Jones - 5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal; Cole Register - 3 points; Daniel Clemente - 2 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block; Carson Yates - 2 reounds, 1 steal, 1 block.
In the consolation game on 1/25/25, the Pirates went head-to-head with Sebastian River High School. The Pirates remained determined on the court but were overcome by the Sharks 51-65. Gameday highlights for the Pirates: Simmonds - 18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks; Anderson - 13 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 7 blocks; Burdick - 9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block; Register - 5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block; Clemente - 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 blocks; Jones - 2 points, 1 assist, 1 steal; Yates - 2 points, 1 rebound.
