Varsity Track & Field Doesn't Hold Back at Jensen Beach Invitational
The varsity track and field team competed in the Jensen Beach High School Invitational in Jensen Beach on 3/28/25. The Pirates had a successful day on the track and in field events, setting 3 school records. The girls team finished 3rd place overall with 140 points, and the boys team finished in 5th place with 75 points.
In track events for the girls team, Cadence Callaghan proved the champion in the 400 Hurdles, finishing in 1st place at 1:18.51, and teammate Nahlia Hebig was close behind with her 2nd place finish at 1:22.60. Callaghan also finished in 2nd in the 200 Hurdles at 20.40. Stephanie Storts recorded a 2nd place finish in the 800m with 2:35.83, Jacquelyn Perrin placed 3rd with 2:38.27, and Sophie Cooper finished in 6th with 2:55.81. Lilly Jensen secured a 2nd place finish in the 100m with 13.49, and Tajani Gayle finished 6th with 14.01. The girls 4x800 relay team (Callaghan, Niah Boulding, Jaiya Hebig, and Isabella Peter) were the victors, finishing the relay with their 1st place finish time of 12:26.29. The 4x400 relay team consisting of Gayle, Mia Perez, Jensen, and Audrey Elliott placed 3rd at 56.23. In field events, N. Hebig set a school record with her 1st place finish in the Long Jump at 4.40m. Jensen captured 1st place with her 9.77m mark in the Triple Jump, and teammate Elliott placed 3rd with 8.40m. Perez not only seized a 1st place finish in Javelin with her 27.90m mark but also set a new school record. Jaida Jackson also placed for the Pirates in Javelin with her 7th place throw of 14.22m. In Discus, Perez placed 4th with 22.23m, and Jackson placed 5th at 21.03m. In Shot Put, Jackson finished 5th with 7.07m, and Perez finished in 7th place with 6.20m.
On the track for the boys team, Jack Curley saw a 1st place finish in 1600m at 4:37.26 and a 2nd place finish in the 800m with 2:10.78. Jay Leibik placed 5th in the 800m at 2:21.43, and Aiden Bryant finished 8th in the 1600m with 5:33.79. In the 110 Hurdles, Leibik secured a 2nd place finish with 19.99. Nicky Colontrelle finished 4th in the 400 Hurdles with 1:10.62. In relay events, the 4x800 relay team consisting of Bryant, Jamin Dunham, Chris Perrin, and Cam Perrin finished in 5th place with 10:24.28. In field events for the boys team, Leibik recorded a 1st place finish in the High Jump with 1.52m. Curley set a new school record in Javelin with his 2nd place throw of 41.30m. Colontrelle saw a 3rd place finish in the Triple Jump at the 11.01m mark, and Leibik placed 6th at 9.99m. In the Long Jump, Colontrelle placed 5th with 5.02m, and Trey Donohoe placed 7th with 4.17m. Matthew Cocks finished in 8th place in Discus with 22.26m.
