Varsity Track & Field Sees Great Showing at MCHS Kenna Wilson Memorial Meet

On 4/4/25, the varsity track and field team traveled to Martin County High School in Stuart to participate in the Kenna Wilson Memorial Meet. Overall, the girls team placed 6th, and the boys team placed 7th. The Pirates also set 4 new school records in track events.

On the track for the boys team, Jack Curley finished in 2nd place in the 800m with a personal record time of 2:02.9 and secured a 2nd place finish in the 1600m with 4:52.32. Luc Dambournet finished 6th in the 110 Hurdles with a personal best time of 20:32 and placed 8th in the 400 Hurdles at 1:08.24 to set a new school record. Also setting a new school record was Jay Leibik in the 100m with his time of 11.94. In field events, Curley saw a solid 2nd place finish in Javelin with his 37.14m throw. Matthew Cocks placed 6th in Discus with 29.75m. In the High Jump, Leibik placed 6th with his mark of 1.57m.
 
For the girls team, Jacquelyn Perrin's 2nd place finish in the 800m at 2:28.39 allowed her to break the 2008 school record for this event that was previously set by Pirate alumnus Grace Thomas '11. Perrin also finished 2nd in the 1600m with a personal record of 5:34.03, followed closely by Stephanie Storts in 3rd place with 5:35.97, also a personal record. Lilly Jensen secured 2nd place in the 100m with 13.15 to improve her currently set school record. Storts finished in 8th place in the 800m with 2:39.87. In relays, the girls 4x100 relay team (Tajani Gayle, Jensen, Mia Perez, Kayla Jeune) placed 4th with a time of 55.59. In field events, Perez won the Javelin event with her 1st place throw of 23.68m and secured a 3rd place finish in Discus with 23.45m. Tirzah Boulding placed 4th in Javelin with her 19.99m throw and set a new personal record. Jensen finished in 4th place in the Triple Jump with 9.25m and placed 5th in the Long Jump with a personal best 4.41m jump. Jaida Jackson finished 6th in Javelin with 16.19m and placed 7th place in Discus with her 22.35m throw.
