Successful Finish to Regular Season for Varsity Track & Field
The varsity track and field team wrapped up their regular season schedule at the MCHS Sarge Invitational on 4/11/25 at Martin County High School in Stuart. The Pirates set 2 new school records and collected 17 personal records. The girls team finished 5th overall with 60 points, and the boys team finished 6th overall with 26 points.
Jacquelyn Perrin won the girls 800m event, breaking her previously set school record with her 1st place time of 2:27:96. Perrin also finished in 3rd place in the 1600m with a time of 5:55.43. Stephanie Storts secured a 2nd place finish in the 800m with her personal best time of 2:30.16. Sophie Cooper finished in 5th place in the 3200m to set a personal record at 13:42.40, and Isabella Peter finished in 7th place with her personal best time of 14:44.14. Cadence Callaghan placed 5th in the 400 Hurdles with 1:17.75. The 4x800 girls relay team consisting of Callaghan, Cooper, Perrin, and Storts won their event with their 1st place finish time of 10:59.04. The 4x400 relay team (Callaghan, Nahlia Hebig, Perrin, Storts) placed 4th at 4:34.76. In field events for the girls team, Perez secured a 2nd place finish in Javelin with her 27.32m mark and finished in 7th place in Discus with her 26.14m throw. Lilly Jensen placed 8th in the Long Jump with her 4.42m mark, a personal best.
In track events for the boys team, Jack Curley ensured a 3rd place finish in the 3200 with his personal record time of 10:31.79 and placed 5th in the 1600m with a personal best 4:37.25. Spencer Taft finished in 8th place in the 800m with his personal best time of 2:11.90 and placed 8th in the 1600m at 5:06.34. The boys 4x800 relay team (Nicky Colontrelle, Jay Leibik, Taft, Curley) collected 3rd place and set a new school record with their time of 9:03.92. In field events, Curley secured a 2nd place finish in Javelin with his throw of 36.65m.
