Varsity Track & Field Participates in Freshman/Sophomore Meet in Fort Pierce
On 4/1/25, the varsity track and field team traveled to Lawnwood Stadium in Fort Pierce to take part in the Fort Pierce Central Freshman/Sophomore Meet. The girls team dominated the day's events against some very large schools, placing 1st overall with a score of 137. The boys team brought home a 3rd place finish with 72 points. The Pirates even set 4 new school records over the course of the successful evening.
On the track for the girls team, Jacquelyn Perrin secured a 1st place finish in both the 1600m with her time of 5:51.99 and in the 3200m with 13:19.18, a personal best. Stephanie Storts claimed 1st place in the 800m with 2:36.79. Cadence Callaghan broke her previously set school record in the 400 Hurdles with her 1st place finish at 1:15.98, and she also finished 4th in the 100 Hurdles at 20.49. Sophie Cooper grabbed a 2nd place finish in the 1600m with her personal best time of 6:05.06. Lilly Jensen finished 4th in the 100m with 13.37, and Nahlia Hebig came in 4th in the 400 Hurdles at 1:24.05. Niah Boulding placed 5th in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:56.88, and Isabella Peter saw a 6th place finish in the 3200m with 15:01.96. Setting a new school record in relays was the girls 4x800 relay team (J. Perrin, Callaghan, Storts, and Cooper), who finished in 1st place with a time of 10:46.02. The 4x100 relay team (Tajani Gayle, Kayla Jeune, Mia Perez, and Jensen) finished 2nd at 55.04, and the 4x400 relay team (J. Perrin, Callaghan, Hebig, and Audrey Elliott) placed 3rd at 4:49.02. In field events, Mia Perez ensured a 1st place victory in Discus with her 25.54m throw and also placed 3rd in Shot Put with 7.05m. Hebig broke her previous school record in the Long Jump with her 3rd place finish at 4.63m, and she also came in 6th place in the Triple Jump to achieve a personal record with 6.73m. Jensen placed 3rd in the Triple Jump with 8.46m and 5th in the Long Jump with 4.39m. Jaida Jackson grabbed a 3rd place finish in Discus with her 18.98m throw and placed 4th in Shot Put with 6.93m. Jeune saw 4th place with her 17.70m throw in Discus to set a personal record, and Elliott finished in 4th place in the Triple Jump with 7.93m. Milani Perez placed 6th in the Long Jump with 4.28m.
In track events for the boys team, Jack Curley proved a triple threat, finishing 1st in 800m with a personal best time of 2:05.76, 1st in 1600m with 4:43.30, and 2nd in 3200m with 11:25.21. His personal best time of 11:24.99 allowed Jamin Dunham to be crowned the victor in the boys 3200m, and he also finished in 6th place in the 1600m with 5:13.52, another personal record. Chris Perrin secured a 3rd place finish in the 3200m with a personal best time of 11:57.42, and Spencer Taft placed 5th in the 1600m with 5:13.50. Luc Dambournet finished in 6th place in the 400 Hurdles at 1:11.75. In relay events, the 4x400 relay team (Matthew Cocks, Taft, Trey Donohoe, and Noah Niemi) finished in 3rd place with 4:13.74, and the 4x100 relay team (Niemi, Donohoe, Cocks, and Dambournet) placed 4th with 55.36. In field events for the boys team, Cocks set a new school record in Discus with his 1st place throw of 29.98m. Taft finished in 4th place in the Triple Jump with 10.94m, a personal record.
