Varsity Baseball Comes in 3rd in SSAA Tourney
The varsity baseball traveled to Thomas Jefferson Park in Jacksonville on 4/4/25 to take part in the Sunshine State Athletic Association's (SSAA) Tournament. The Pirates faced off against Eagle's View Academy on the field for their playoff game. The Pirates and the Warriors saw a scoreless 1st and 2nd innings, but the Warriors collected 2 runs in the 3rd inning to pull ahead 2-0. The game remained at a 2-0 stalemate through the top of the 7th inning, with the Pirates falling to their opponents 0-2.
Caden Freedman pitched 6 innings, with 11 batters struck out. In fielding stats for the Pirates, catcher Cyprian McIntosh recorded 11 putouts and 1 assist. Brayden Schraw had 4 putouts for the Pirate team. Recording 1 putout apiece were teammates Nolan Ange, Griffin Hutton, and Cooper Harp. Providing 1 assist each were Graham Hutton and Reid Morris. At bat, Reid Morris recorded 1 hit and 1 base on balls. Also collecting a base on balls were McIntosh, Gra. Hutton, and Gri. Hutton.
The Pirates next played against Foundation Christian Academy in the Consolation game on 4/5/25. The Pirates overwhelmed the Panthers on the field, declaring an 11-0 victory to place 3rd in the tournament. R. Morris pitched 3 innings for the Pirates with 5 strikeouts, and Gra. Hutton pitched 2 innings with 3 strikeouts. In fielding stats, catcher McIntosh accrued 7 putouts and 3 assists. Harp recorded 2 putouts, and Gra. Hutton saw 1 putout and 1 assist. Collecting 1 putout apiece were Freedman, Ange, Gri. Hutton, Liam Dyer, and R. Morris. At bat, Freedman had 2 runs, 1 hit, and 2 RBIs, and Trey Dunlap recorded 1 run, 1 hit, 1 base on balls, 3 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases.
